A wonderful, magical place!

One of the world's most beautiful places. Would be the most beautiful if it had an expresso machine.

Lovely cabin grounds on the coast of blue mountain lake in the Adirondack region of New York. Rates are high compared to a campground or hotel, but the value matches. Food and amenities are all included in the nightly rate. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the scenery is hard to beat. In the suites above the dinning hall, the showers are hot and stay hot, the bathrooms are spacious and clean, and the rooms are large and comfortable. Don't expect to be roughing it just because you're in the woods. Just be warned that because these suites are above the dining hall it can be very noisy during breakfast and Dinner, though the dining hours are reasonable (about 8AM-8PM) in case you sleep in or bed early. The food/meals quality is easily something you would expect to pay over $20 per person for. All in all this is a place I would gladly come back to.

A stay here is balm for the soul.

We've been coming to the Hedges since 1977, and have missed just a couple of years. Succinctly: my wife and I love this place! Every year we look forward to our visit, and every year we are a bit saddened when we leave. When I worked for a living it was a place to escape to before the real world intervened; now that I'm gainfully unemployed (retired...) it's just a place to escape to. Everything about it - the facilities, the cabins, the rooms, and the meals - is just "comfortable", in the best possible ways. It is remote without being remote (if that makes any sense) and you can easily go to Old Forge and Lake Placid for day trips. There is hiking (if you go you have to climb Castle Rock - the view from on top is amazing) and there is always the Adirondack Museum, which is literally just down the road (it's my favorite small museum). In Long Lake there is Hoss's General Store.

Stayed for 2 nights in the Durant suite above the dining hall. Very convenient spot! A few more days at least would be required to take advantage of all there is to offer, but with a toddler our options were limited anyway. We were still able to relax, take a boat and kayak out, explore the grounds, and a few other activities. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Hope to be back.

The staff is wonderful, helpful and so nice. The food is plentiful and delicious. The grounds peaceful, views spectacular.
